Giving Tuesday

Young people today have a difficult time trying to figure out how to become adults when they are presented with a myriad of mixed messages: be pretty and popular, but don’t be promiscuous; be smart, but not too much; be yourself, but look like everyone on TV. Our youth are suffering from low self-esteem and feigned self-confidence, reduced interest and achievement in school, and an increase in both depression rates and eating disorders. It is imperative to help youth understand the mixed messages they receive from our culture, develop positive feelings about themselves and their futures, make connections with others, and feel free to be true to themselves.

Youth Talk United is designed to give adolescents an opportunity to feel empowered, gain self- awareness, and express their thoughts and feelings about everyday issues. We offer a holistic, group-focused approach to equipping its participants with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to address, process, and overcome these obstacles and flourish in life.

Unfortunately, when Covid hit the location that we used to provide these services from were shut down. So, the past two years we have been moving around from place to place, with no real space to welcome the young people into.

As we end 2022, Youth Talk United is looking for a full-time place to continue to equip our participants with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to address, process, and overcome these obstacles and flourish in life - both as youth and adults. Our goal is to raise $5,000 in support of a home (meeting place) for the youth.

Please consider a gift of $200 or more in support of the youth and young adults in the Greater Birmingham area - particularly those considered at-risk due to their social environments and life circumstances with a safe and growing place to call home. Your donation can be made securely online at youthtalkunited.org/donate

Thank you for your consideration and your will to make an impact in the lives of our youth and the community. Please contact us if we can be service in any way, and contact with us online here: linktr.ee/youthtalkunited.
